This is what the Lord said to Moses: “Tell the
Israelites to take up a collection for me. From every man you shall accept
the contribution that his heart prompts him to give me.”
Exodus 25:1-2
School Improvement Fund. The St. Joachim Board
of Education has begun a fund to improve the facilities of St. Joachim
School. The first project is to build a new playground that is safe and
fun while providing adequate exercise for the students. The current
equipment was installed sometime in the 60's and has provided lots of
fun over the years. However, new safety guidelines have made the old
equipment obsolete and some of it has been removed. The second project
is to renovate the bathrooms of the school. The plumbing which was
installed in 1949 when the building was constructed is also becoming
obsolete.
Endowment Fund. St. Joachim School has a long
history of academic excellence and religious education that has produced
many successful adults who are leaders in the community of Old Mines and
elsewhere. St. Joachim School is vital to the continuing presence of
Catholic education in Washington County, but with rising costs, it is
increasingly difficult to financially maintain the program. In 2005-2006
with a Grant from the Schindler Family, a music teacher was hired to
enrich the program. With your help and support, the possibilities are
endless.
Scholarship Fund. A Catholic education is
offered to all children of Washington County, but as the cost of
education increases, it comes more difficult for some parents to afford
a Catholic education for their children. Therefore, through the
generosity of many foundations and friends, tuition assistance grants
are made available. Would you be willing to sponsor a child at St.
Joachim so that they can become prepared to be successful adults who
follow in the footsteps of Jesus?
